Réveil dans la brume, comme tous les matins dans la baie de Swakopmund, nous partons au petit matin, faire une croisière le long des côtes de Walvis Bay. Nous embarquons dans un petit bateau au milieu d'un chantier naval, baigné par l'odeur du poisson pourri. C'est toujours agréable de bon matin. Le groupe avec qui nous voyageons ce matin est sympathique, il est composé d'un couple d'anglais "so british", d'un couple de français fan d'huîtres et de deux espagnoles. A peine parti du port, voilà que deux pelicans roses nous suivent et capturent les poissons en vol que notre skipper Mimkie leur lance. D'un geste de la main, elle les fait atterir sur l'eau comme des "canadairs". Les goélands et les cormorans sont de la partie également. Fascinés par les pelicans, nous n'entendons pas arriver Junior qui prend place sur le bateau tel une star après une dure soirée arrosée! Junior est un mâle otarie. Nous pouvons le caresser et nous découvrons son pelage huileux, mais qui reste toujours sec en dessous quelque soit son environnement.
Puis nous nous éloignons un peu plus des côtes, afin d'aller observer les dauphins et les colonies d'otaries qui peuplent plus loin la baie. Nous avons la chance d'observer des dizaines de dauphins qui s'amusent à suivre les bateaux et qui nous surprennent par quelques jolies acrobaties. Et contre toute attente, nous aperçevons au loin une baleine, Mimkie met les gaz à fond, pour s'en rapprocher. Nous avons eu la chance de la revoir lors d'une de ses remontées et prendre quelques jolis clichés. En nous rapprochant de la colonie d'otaries, nous avons vu un chacal sur la plage qui leur est réservé, qui avalait goûlument les poissons qu'un autre skipper lui lancait.
Puis, c'est l'heure de l'apéro au milieu de l'océan: huîtres, mousseux et petits fours sont au menu. Un chouette moment gravé dans nos mémoires!
